Mission Statement
We endeavor to be a community where the presence of Christ Jesus, who leads us to God, can be readily perceived. We desire to be known for our singular devotion to Him and our openess to the leading of the Holy Spirit.
We commit ourselves to: draw others to salvation and new life in Jesus Christ; be a loving community with Scripture as our primary authority and guide; pass on to future generations the same Truth graciously given to us.
The people and priests of the Holy Spirit Anglican Church invite you to our service of worship.
Sunday June 28, our Holy Spirit Anglican Church community came together to begin a new chapter in our Christian journey.
Our “little” church on Leroy Stevens Road, (2020 Leroy Stevens Road) which has been 5 years in the making, was blessed by the Bishop Walter Grundorf and dedicated as a place of service and worship to God. We celebrated the Confirmation of Spencer Lee, and reaffirmed our Baptismal commitments to each other and Christ as members of an Anglican family.
We welcomed our new rector, Father Christopher Goers, his wife Jenifer and their three children, Hope, John and Paul, into our family, and said goodbye to our interim rector, Father Alan Armstrong, who guided us to a deeper relationship with Christ in the recent months.
Bishop Grundorf reminded us all of the early days of our church in his sermon. He said he remembered 5 years ago when he received a call from our beloved rector, Fr. Michael Naopli.
Fr. Mike told the Bishop that God was calling him to lead our small community to break away from the Episcopal Church, so that we could better serve God in a community that was founded on Scripture and His Word. It was a difficult time for our church. We were criticized and discouraged by many. But we kept faith, and God provided.
The Bishop recalled his first meeting with us at the home of our Senior Warden and his wife, Rudy and Emily Boutwell. We went on to worship in the Seventh Day Adventist Church on Cody Rd., a facility that served us well, and we thank them for their hospitality.
We began humbly, with just our brothers and sisters in Christ, our devoted shepherd Fr. Mike, and a tremendous amount of faith that God would lead us in the right direction and open our hearts to the changes we would have to undergo. Some have left, but through all the difficult times we relied on the Grace and Goodness of God. Many others have joined and our little family continues to grow and God continues to provide for our every need.
It was a great day of thanksgiving to God for bringing us together and for providing us with the means to have a physical building to call home.
Although Father Mike could not be there, as he is in Houston battling cancer, we presented a plaque to his daughter Dawn in honor of him and his obedience to God's will.
It is a small memento that cannot truly represent all the tenderness and gratitude we have in our hearts for the man who led us to the place we are today and whose determination and faith we emulate now.
We continue to pray for Father Mike and his family daily as a community, trusting in the miracle of his complete healing that is to come, and the many years of his continued good health that are ahead.
This momentous day in our Church history was a chance to reflect not only on where we have been, but where we are going. We are called to be fishers to men and trust that we will continue to bring others to know Him as we do. The love of Christ is palpable in our midst, you can feel it when you walk through the doors and the presence of the Holy Spirit is experienced weekly in our services.
The next chapter of our story has begun, and we welcome you to take part and rejoice with us for all the blessings God has bestowed upon us.
